The Maust Gathering

The Journey to the Cabin begins. . .

First, of MANY breaks along the way. . .
Or was this the 2nd or 3rd?
Don't I look like an 80ies chick? All I need now are leg warmers.

We made it past the village of St. Paul and here was one of the few downhill sections. It truly was like flying, until the abrupt incline started again and I couldn't figure out the shifting on the bike, and I looked like a windmill pedaling wildly.

Lots and lots of lengthy uphill sections. . .

Leo called this hill "Big Bertha". I ended up walking, but he pedaled slow and steady to the top.

And here he is, victorious. I am barely standing. There is no picture of me.

Here, it's about another mile or so to the cabin entrance.j
All of it uphill.

We made it!

And now, scenes from the cabin. . .

The water table
Tie-dye shirts are becoming a tradition.

The ice-cream machine is also a tradition.

Lots of folks visiting, reconnecting. . .

Lots of 1st and 2nd cousins playing hard, all day. . .

The cookstove where all the yumminess begins. . .

Amy, with her painting for the auction.
The grandparents, great-grandparents on their wedding day.

Little Ella

Adrienne and Levi

Renee and Maddie

Who is that cute couple?

And the day ended with fireworks and fireflies, sleepy kids (and parents), and
just one more ice-cream cone.

Love,
Dianne
